Adnan Menderes University was established in 1992 on acceptance of the amendment of Law No. 41 of Decision No: 3837 dated 03.07.1992 concerning the Governance of Higher Education Institutions along with the amendment of Decisions 78 and 190 of Law No. 2809

Our University was founded with 5 faculties (the Faculty of Arts and Science, Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Agriculture), 3 Graduate Schools; the School of Tourism and Hotel Management and Söke Vocational School. Our University has become a Higher Education Institute which gives education in a total of 80 different academic units: in 21 Faculties, 3 Graduate Schools, 1 State Conservatory, 1 Schools, 19 Vocational Schools and 36 Research and Application Centres.

Our university, which first started to give education in the Aydın and Nazilli districts, is now continuing education on 17 campuses: in Aydın city, Çakmar, Işıklı, İsabeyli, Didim Akbük, Nazilli Sümer, Çine Süleyman Pekgüzel and Karacasu campuses along with Kuşadası, Atça, Sultanhisar, Yenipazar, Söke, Davutlar, Bozdoğan, Köşk and  Buharkent campuses.
