The project titled “Synthesis of Barbiturate-Containing Copper (II) and Boron Difluoride Complexes and Investigation of their Anti-cancer Properties”, which was carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rukiye Fırıncı, Faculty Member of the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science of our University, and accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan Fırıncı, Faculty Member of the Department of Chemistry, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tülay Çelik, Faculty Member of the Department of Biology, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Sultan Aslantürk, Faculty Member of the Department of Biology, was entitled to be supported within the scope of the 2nd period of the TÜBİTAK 1001 Program 2024.
Project coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rukiye Fırıncı said, “In our accepted project, the synthesis of ligand derivatives containing barbiturate and their copper and boron complexes will be carried out. The anti-cancer effects of the synthesized compounds will be investigated, and their potential as anti-cancer agents will be examined. In addition, undergraduate and graduate students from the Departments of Chemistry and Biology will work as scholarship holders in this project. Thus, our students who will start their academic career will be encouraged to conduct scientific studies.”
