Three Medals from ADU Athletes at the World Championship

Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) has achieved significant national and international success with the medals won at the FISU 2025 World University Summer Games held in Germany. Represented by 12 athletes, our University brought great pride to both our country and our institution by winning three medals in various disciplines.

In the discus throw event featuring athletes from 46 countries, Özlem Becerek, a student of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, won the gold medal with a throw of 61.15 meters, marking the season’s best performance. With this outstanding achievement, she not only secured the championship title but also made history by becoming the first athlete from Türkiye to win a gold medal in the discus throw at the World University Summer Games.

In the men’s 800-meter race, our athlete Mehmet Çelik earned a bronze medal by placing third among 64 competitors. Çelik also competed in the 1500-meter race, finishing fourth among 72 athletes, once again demonstrating his high-level performance. In the 4 × 400-meter relay, our athlete Kubilay Encü won a bronze medal by securing third place among 43 countries.

Out of the total nine medals won by the Turkish national team, three were brought home by students from Aydın Adnan Menderes University. According to data from the Turkish University Sports Federation, our University ranks among the top institutions in terms of medal count and has garnered international recognition for this success.
