Under the coordination of the Higher Education Council and organised by the Science Communication Office, which is part of our University’s Corporate Communications Coordinatorship, the awareness programme titled “A Heart Attack Can Strike at Any Moment” was held in the Rekmez Neighbourhood, part of Sultanhisar district, with a high turnout from local residents.
Our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, the Mayor of Sultanhisar, Osman Yıldırımkaya, the Director of Sultanhisar Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kılıçkan, and members of the public attended to the programme.
During the programme, Dr Sercan Çayırlı, Lecturer at the Department of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine, provided information on maintaining heart health, symptoms of a heart attack, the importance of early diagnosis, and preventive measures that can be taken.
The programme highlighted the importance of symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations and high blood pressure, whilst also sharing with participants the effects of healthy lifestyle habits on heart health. During the event, where residents’ questions were also answered, the life-saving role of early intervention was emphasised.
Throughout the event, free body mass index analysis and blood pressure measurement services were provided by a team of experts, enabling participants to undergo health checks.
The programme, which aims to raise health awareness within the community, received a great deal of interest from the public.
