The Organ Transplant Center at Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) Hospital has once again offered hope through a successful operation. Hüseyin Bidan, a 61-year-old resident of Didim, regained his health after undergoing a life-saving liver transplant.
Bidan, who had been struggling with liver disease since last year, was placed on the transplant list following detailed medical assessments. A liver from a donor who had been declared brain-dead was successfully transplanted by the expert team at ADU Organ Transplant Center.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdem Barış Cartı, Head of the Organ Transplant Unit at ADU Hospital, with the participation of Anesthesiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Feray Gürsoy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Kara, and Oncologic Surgeon Dr. Öğün Aydoğan.
Speaking after the surgery, Hüseyin Bidan expressed his gratitude:
“On July 31, I stepped into a second life thanks to this operation. Organ donation saves lives, and I hope everyone becomes more aware and supportive of this cause.”
His wife, Havva Bidan, also shared her heartfelt thoughts:
“Because of organ donation, my husband has regained his health, and our children didn’t lose their father. We are forever grateful to the doctors.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdem Barış Cartı emphasized that ADU Hospital is one of the leading transplant centers in the Aegean Region, stating:
“Our center has successfully performed 30 liver transplants to date. Currently, 12 patients are on the waiting list. Organ donation gives patients a second chance at life, and public awareness is critical in this challenging yet life-saving process.”
