Slaughterhouse Facility affiliated with the Nazilli Municipality, aiming to enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

The event, organized with the support of Nazilli Municipality, included participation from Dr. Okan Ertosluk, Lecturer Dr. Sema Midilli, Lecturer Aydan Başçalışkan, and students.

During the visit to the animal shelter, biocidal product application station, and slaughterhouse, students had the opportunity to observe theoretical knowledge in practice.

Veterinarian Orçun Firet emphasized the importance of controlling the 5,000 to 6,000 stray animals in Nazilli for public health and environmental safety. Firet stated that regular vaccination programs are carried out for stray dogs, highlighting the significance of these practices for preventing zoonotic diseases.

Veterinarian Osman Dalay, responsible for the slaughterhouse and animal shelter, along with District Agriculture Directorate Slaughterhouse Officer Veterinarian Koray Baykal, provided detailed information about hygiene standards, animal welfare measures, and carcass meat inspections at the slaughterhouse. Baykal noted that pre- and post-slaughter processes are carefully monitored, ensuring minimum suffering for animals by adhering to national and international standards during slaughter procedures.

Technical Officer Mustafa Tunay emphasized the crucial role of veterinary health technicians and food engineers in slaughterhouse processes. He suggested that individuals interested in the sector should receive the necessary training for better employment opportunities.

Nazilli Municipality Pesticide Officer Veterinarian Ahmet Şahin shared insights into the methods used for combating harmful organisms and the application of chemical products on plants and soil. Şahin highlighted that improper pesticide use can harm environmental health and ecosystems, stressing the importance of correct dosages and timing to increase efficiency while protecting nature.

Lecturer Dr. Tayfun Şahin underlined that practical experiences like these allow students to observe and evaluate their theoretical knowledge in real-world conditions, helping them understand the sector's dynamics. This experience not only prepares students for future professional challenges but also serves as a valuable guide for their career planning.
