Reuse Project from Bozdogan Vocational School: Second-Hand Clothes Turned into Bags

Bozdogan Vocational School (MYO) has launched an innovative project promoting sustainable fashion and reuse culture by repurposing second-hand clothes donated to the social market. In collaboration with Bozdogan Public Education Center, second-hand garments were transformed into handmade bags.

As part of the project, bags sewn by Public Education Center trainees were produced with an eco-friendly approach, contributing to both environmental sustainability and social solidarity.

Handmade Bags to Be Used at the Social Market

At Bozdogan MYO Social Market, handmade fabric bags will be distributed to students instead of plastic bags during free food distribution. This initiative aims to raise environmental awareness and reduce plastic consumption.

The fabric bags will not only serve as a practical way for students to carry their goods but also contribute to the conservation of natural resources. Through this initiative, students will be encouraged to adopt sustainable consumption habits and eco-friendly practices.

Empowering Women and Encouraging Reuse

Trainees from the Public Education Center processed unused clothes and fabrics, creating stylish and durable bags. This effort reduces textile waste while enhancing women's vocational skills.

Project Coordinator and Director of Bozdogan MYO, Dr. Lecturer Nurdanur Tavlan Soydan, emphasized that such sustainability-focused projects will continue in the future.

Mihriban Yaylagul, master instructor at Yazikent Public Education Center, highlighted the impact of this initiative:
"Every bag handcrafted by our women is not just an accessory but also a product of a conscious movement."

Behiye Donmez, a clothing instructor at Bozdogan Public Education Center, stated:
"By repurposing second-hand fabrics, we contribute to nature while strengthening the culture of reuse."

Gulden Dayan, a sewing instructor, added:
"Through this project, our trainees not only participated in the production process but also embraced the concept of sustainable fashion."
