The implementation of the “Increasing the Adoption of a Healthy Mediterranean Diet” (MoreMedDiet) project, carried out within the scope of the European Union-supported “Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region” (PRIMA) program at Didim Vocational School (Vocational School) of our University, was held on February 21, 2025.
Within the scope of the project, which aims to promote the adoption of a healthy Mediterranean diet, Prof. Dr. Aslı Yorulmaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Mehmet Yılmaz took part as project coordinators, while Didim Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Nimet Çavuş and Food Engineers (MSc) Beyzanur Bayraktar, Kardelen Demirci, and Bengisu Arslan worked as researchers.
Didim District Governor Can Kazım Kuruca, Naval Colonel Erkut Arslan, Didim Chief Public Prosecutor Anıl Atay, Didim Vocational School Director Lecturer Prof. Dr. M. Nimet Çavuş, and kitchen chefs attended the program. Lecturer Okan Umut Şimşek and the students of the Cookery program undertook the production of the recipes determined within the scope of the project, while the participants tasted 11 different dishes and evaluated them according to criteria such as appearance, smell, taste, and texture. In line with the data obtained, sensory analyses were carried out to improve the recipes.
The project, which is carried out in partnership with Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Egypt, and Tunisia, aims to contribute to the development of healthy eating habits.
