At the European Team Championships 2nd League held in Maribor, Slovenia, the Turkish National Athletics Team secured fourth place overall with a total of 382 points. In this prestigious competition, nine students from our University’s Faculty of Sport Sciences proudly represented Türkiye, delivering outstanding performances in the national team jersey.
In the women’s discus throw event, our student Özlem Becerek placed third with a throw of 56.59 meters. In the men’s shot put, Ali Peker finished fourth with a throw of 19.56 meters. In the men’s pole vault event, Ersu Şaşma earned second place with a jump of 5.50 meters. In the women’s triple jump, Tuğba Danışmaz claimed third place with a performance of 14.00 meters. A recent graduate of our Faculty, Emel Dereli, became the champion in women’s shot put with a remarkable throw of 16.23 meters. Another student, Deniz Sivri Demir, competed in the women’s hammer throw and secured eighth place with a distance of 59.62 meters.
In addition, Faculty students Batuhan Altıntaş and Ramil Guliyev represented Türkiye in the men’s 4x100-meter relay team, while Kubilay Ençü competed in the mixed 4x400-meter relay team.
