President of TÜBİTAK, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal Gave a Lecture In Our University.
President of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal attended as a lecturer the Conference, entitled “Situation Assessment in the Science, Technology and Innovation Ecosystem TUBITAK Oriented New Processes“ , held at ADU Atatürk Congress Center on March 8, 2019.
Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akyol, Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Tunay Çoban, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Development Organization Provincial Director of Aydın Sadık Ceyhan, academic staff of the university and many students attended the event.
Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir gave the opening speech of the event and stated that today it is a priority to differentiate in intersectional competition and create production structure based on innovation built upon the potential of the region. Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir stated that the universities were locomotive institutions which constitute a structural and basic strategy and balance among universities in order to increase the competitiveness of the region and to reduce the interregional development disparities and said “The presence of organizations that have the potential to cooperate in innovation and also the climate and services to support the process of innovation in the region in which enterprises operate in is important. In this sense, within the structure of ADU Technopark, using a Regional Innovation System (BYS), we invite enterprises, educational institutions, research institutions, public institutions, financial institutions and intermediary institutions in our region to communicate, interact and cooperate with our university, and as ADU Rector, I would like to call your attention to the fact that we will always support all kinds of projects that will provide an advantage in regional and global development.”
After the speeches of the Rector, President of TÜBİTAK Prof.Dr. Hasan Mandal gave information about support programs by explaining the progress of TÜBİTAK from 2002 to the present. Prof. Dr. Mandal stated that the grant allocated for TUBITAK's R&D expenditures continued to increase every passing year and that the biggest share in R&D expenditures belongs to the private sector with a share of 56.9% and they expected this rate to reach 65% in the upcoming 5 to 10 years. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal said that they will increase the support for Artificial Intelligence and its sub-branches in the upcoming period and their basic strategies are to educate qualified people and produce quality information in the research, technology development and innovation ecosystem. Evaluating our university on the subject of benefiting from the support of TÜBITAK, Prof. Dr. Mandal indicated that the performance of our university had a tendency to rise and said: “Universities should improve themselves in conducting research rather than just investigating.”
At the end of the event, President of TÜBITAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal responded to the questions of the participants and Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir gave him a certificate of attendance and some gifts from our university. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also gave a porcelain plate to Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir for his new appointment as Rector.
After the conference, Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir and President of TÜBİTAK Dr. Hasan Mandal investigated out university’s Technopark. The Manager of Technopark Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem informed President Prof. Dr. Mandal about the Technopark.
