The International Health Tourism Center, which concretizes our university's international vision in the field of healthcare, was inaugurated on April 18, 2025, with a ceremony held at the Kuşadası Campus.
The ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem and Prof. Dr. Cengiz Özarslan, Rector’s Advisor and Chief Physician of our University Hospital Prof. Dr. Mücahit Avcil, Deputy Mayor of Kuşadası Ayşe Gül Dağlı, Deputy Secretary-General Tanfer Bilge, deputy chief physicians, and protocol members.
Following the moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the program started with the screening of the introductory film, and the opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mücahit Avcil, Chief Physician of our University Hospital. In his speech, he gave a presentation on the establishment process of the center, its objectives, and its importance in the field of health tourism. Sharing information about the collaborations to be carried out with target countries such as Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, as well as the technical equipment of the building, Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Mücahit Avcil highlighted that the center will be more than just a healthcare facility and will serve as the showcase of our university in the international healthcare field.

Stating that our university advances with an approach that does not limit its healthcare services to local needs, our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent emphasized in his speech:
“This center, opened in Kuşadası, opens the door to a new era where both our scientific accumulation and service capacity will now be evaluated on a global scale.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent underlined that with the services to be provided at the center, both Turkey’s share in health tourism will increase and patients from different geographies will be given hope, and continued:
“With the opening of our International Health Tourism Center, we are taking another step closer to our goal of providing healthcare services not only regionally but also on a global scale. Our center, with its advanced technologies, expert staff, and patient-centered approach, will carry our country’s strength in the healthcare sector to international platforms. Our aim is to make reliable, innovative, and human-centered healthcare services at high standards more visible in the international arena. This center is a concrete reflection of our knowledge, experience, and mission. I sincerely thank all my colleagues who contributed to this process and all the supporting institutions and organizations.”
After the speeches, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, and protocol members toured the center building and received information. Standing out with its modern infrastructure, scientific capacity, and the strategic location advantages of Kuşadası, the center is now ready to start admitting international patients.
The International Health Tourism Center has started its activities as a vision project reflecting our university’s scientific strength and ethical approach in the healthcare field on a global scale.
