Our university's academicians continue to successfully represent our country both nationally and internationally. Ümit Bulut, Lecturer at Germencik Yamantürk Vocational School and Digital Transformation Coordinator, was accepted with a full scholarship to the prestigious MenaML Artificial Intelligence Winter School, organized in collaboration with the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) and Google DeepMind.
Representing our university with distinction, Lecturer Bulut made a remarkable achievement at the event held in Doha from February 9-14. The six-day program, hosted at Hamad bin Khalifa University, featured presentations and practical sessions by experts from leading institutions in the field of artificial intelligence. Ümit Bulut secured third place in the Kaggle competition organized by qeen.ai, marking a significant accomplishment, particularly considering the prominence of qeen.ai as one of the region's leading AI initiatives.
Reflecting on the event, Lecturer Ümit Bulut stated, “The MENA region holds high potential. I had the opportunity to meet professionals and colleagues from around the world, including many experts working or studying in Europe and America. Throughout the program, I was able to apply theoretical knowledge into practice and strived to represent our university in the best possible way by securing a position in the competition.”
Key topics such as diffusion models, multimodal AI systems, and current applications in healthcare were addressed during the event. Moreover, vital discussions were held to enhance the regional artificial intelligence ecosystem. Networking opportunities and hands-on experiences provided to participants were among the event's highlights.
We congratulate Lecturer Ümit Bulut and wish him continued success.
