Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent hosted the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, who visited our University on the occasion of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony, in his office on October 21, 2024.
Before the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, who was welcomed by Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent in his office, visited the Adnan Menderes Photography Exhibition after signing the honor book of our University.
The 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony of our University was held at Atatürk Congress Center Yörük Ali Efe Hall with the presence of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş.
The ceremony hosted by our university was attended by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat, members of parliament, provincial protocol, academic and administrative staff, students and members of the press.
The Academic Year Opening Ceremony continued with the stand in silence and the National Anthem, followed by the viewing of the promotional film of our University and a zeybek show.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, who started his speech by stating that they started the new academic year with new hopes this year as every year, stated that universities have important responsibilities for a successful and happy future in a globalizing world.
Stating that our university, with its deep-rooted history and strong infrastructure, has assumed an important role in basic fields of activity such as education-training, research-development, entrepreneurship, social contribution and institutional development, Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent said, “We are happy to step into this new academic year, which we are looking forward to with excitement. With more than 32 years of deep-rooted history and strong infrastructure, ADU, as a rising value in the region in line with the spiritual legacy of our martyr of democracy Adnan Menderes, whose name we are proud to bear, is proud to stand out as a special institution recently registered by many domestic and foreign rating agencies. As we start a new semester that will carry this valuable heritage even further, I would like to express once again that we are all together in a great responsibility and determination.”
Stating that they aim to further improve the quality of education in the new academic year and increase the international experience of students and academic staff, our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent said, “In line with all these goals, Aydın Adnan Menderes University will continue to shape the future of our country with its strong infrastructure, qualified academic staff and visionary approach. Our auditable and measurable working discipline, which we have put forward with our investments in data science, has put us ahead of many universities in the world and in Türkiye. The data recently announced by national and international rating agencies have been an important source of motivation for us.”
Stating that Aydın Adnan Menderes University, one of the most established universities of our country, is an important educational institution that has both increased its scientific and academic capacity since its establishment and has made significant contributions to the social and economic development of our province, Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat said, “I would like to congratulate everyone, especially Aydın Adnan Menderes University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent and faculty members, who have contributed to the development of our province in the academic field and carried it to the future better. Aydın Adnan Menderes University is a distinguished institution that has faculties, vocational schools, institutes, research centers, offers education at international standards, grows day by day with its qualified education staff, quality education system and increasing scientific studies, exchange programs, service and ongoing investments, and prepares thousands of students for the future. I would like to express here that we welcome the level it has reached and its prestigious position among other universities. I hope that the 2024-2025 academic year will be conducive to a healthy and successful education and training process, and I wish it to be beneficial to our dear students, university members and our country.”
Starting his speech by expressing his pleasure to be here on an important day for Aydın Adnan Menderes University, which adds value to Aydın, the land of Efeler, and to give the 'First Lecture' at the Academic Year Opening Ceremony, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş said: “I would like to express that I have both a great pleasure and a great responsibility to participate in this important meeting and to be with you in the shadow of the hometown of Yörük Ali Efe, one of the heroic cities of our National Struggle, and the city where the cherished memory of the late Martyr Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, who has written his name in golden letters in the History of Turkish Democracy.”
Stating that one of our most fundamental duties is to fight for our country to move forward as an indivisible whole, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş said, “It is the duty of all of us to fight with all the means at our disposal for the Turkish homeland, the Republic of Türkiye to be one of the most powerful countries in the world. Wherever you are, wherever you work, whether you are a faculty member, a politician, a student, a politician, a student, a business person, a farmer or an artist, each of us will do our job in the best way possible and hopefully we will take Türkiye even higher in the second century of our Republic. In science, art, culture, culture, sports, in every field, we will go much further than where we are now. For this, each and every one of us will work tirelessly to ensure that our universities, which are one of the most important centers of this struggle and one of the most important elements of the goal of a strong and great Türkiye that Adnan Menderes set before us, will go much further.”
Emphasizing that knowledge alone is not enough and must be created with values, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş said: “Our universities need to produce values as well as knowledge, especially in Türkiye’s future. The most fundamental problem in the world right now is the issue of values. There is a deficiency in basic values such as human values, cooperation, sharing, people acting in a way that is beneficial to each other. We have to build wisdom on knowledge, or rather, we have to equip knowledge with wisdom. From this perspective, I wish each of you great success, approaching you with the understanding of a university that is one of our center bases in the strong and great Republic of Türkiye. May God bless you on your way.”
After the speeches, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, Rector of our University, presented a gift to Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and the 'Academic Year Opening Ceremony' ended.
