Prof. Dr. Aytül Uçak Koç, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry of our University, participated in the 8th International Muğla Beekeeping and Pine Honey Congress held in Marmaris / Muğla between 24-27 November 2024 and was awarded the first prize with her “Artificial Intelligence Based Pollen Classification Machine Design” in the innovation competition organized in the field of “Beekeeping Products, Materials, Prototypes, Drugs and Feed Additives for Bee Health, etc.”.
In the production of the prototype developed as a result of the project supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1711 Artificial Intelligence Call and carried out with university-industry cooperation, Prof. Dr. Aytül Uçak Koç, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, as well as Prof. Dr. Mete Karacaoğlu, a retired faculty member from the Faculty of Agriculture of our University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Caner Koç and Dr. Dilara Gerdan Koç, Faculty Member of Agricultural Machinery at Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture, and Mechanical Engineer Yahya Zıhındere from Yıldırım Plastik AŞ.
The artificial intelligence-based prototype produced classifies mixture pollen into single plant pollen and allows it to be evaluated as a standard functional food with high added value.
