The Joint Opening Ceremony for 10 projects implemented by the South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) was held at Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) Atatürk Congress Center on October 7, 2025, with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
Taking the stage after the protocol speeches, Minister Kacır emphasized the strategic importance of investments contributing to Aydın’s development vision, underlining that the newly launched projects would enhance the city’s production capacity and accelerate the socioeconomic development of not only Aydın but the entire Aegean Region.
Highlighting that the investments made in industry, agriculture, technology, and social fields will strengthen the city’s economic potential, create new employment opportunities, and support sustainable development, Minister Kacır stated that ADU’s academic expertise and knowledge base would make significant contributions to this development process.
Referring to the licensed warehouse investment with an 18,000-ton capacity established for cotton producers, Minister Kacır noted that this project would enhance quality, reliability, and stability in agricultural production and trade. He explained that the investment would enable farmers to store their products under safe conditions and use them as collateral for financing, thereby increasing farmers’ income levels and strengthening Aydın’s competitiveness in agricultural trade. Minister Kacır also emphasized that research and development activities to be carried out within the framework of university–industry collaboration would further increase the added value of these investments and drive regional development.
