The Aegean Region leg of the MEB Gastronomy Festival and Culinary Competition, organized under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) Directorate General for Vocational and Technical Education, was held on February 14, 2025, at the culinary workshop of our university's Kusadasi Vocational School (MYO).
The competition featured 40 teams, each consisting of three students, from Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools in the provinces of Aydin, Izmir, Manisa, and Mugla. The students were accompanied by their school principals and mentor teachers.
The opening ceremony was attended by our University’s Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Iyem; MYO Director, Prof. Dr. Pinar Altiok; MEB Vocational Education Department Head, Ercan Alpay; Aydin Provincial Director of National Education, Suleyman Ekici; Deputy Provincial Director of National Education, Gulfidan Kendirlioglu; and Kusadasi District Director of National Education, Ibrahim Ataman.
The jury panel was led by Dr. Lecturer Emrah Koksal Sezgin, Head of the Vocational School’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering Services, while Executive Chef Mumin Durutlu and Chef Aykut Gulgu served as jury members.
At the award ceremony held at the end of the event, the winners received their awards from the attending officials.
