The university's Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydın and Prof. Dr. Cumali Öksüz, Kuyucak Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Hamdi Avcı, our academic and administrative staff attended the panel. Our history is full of the epic stories of our ancestors Delivering the opening speech, Kuyucak Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Hamdi Avcı said, “July 15, 2016 is our victory, democracy, where we show the greatness of being a nation and the power of unity. Despite the wars, hunger and famine in the history of the Turkish nation, it has always managed to keep its strength. It has shown the world many times that it will not replace its independence and freedom with anything. Our history is full of the epic stories of our ancestors. A new one was added to the heroisms of the Turkish nation on the night of July 15. The Turkish nation continues its democracy and independence duty.” After his words, he wished Allah’s mercy upon our martyrs who gave their lives on the night of July 15 and expressed his sincere condolences to their relatives. Director of Nazilli School of Health and faculty member at Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Assoc. Dr. Tuncay Ercan Sepetçioğlu who made his speech after the video and slide show about July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, shared the issues of our country's constitution and democracy, coups and coup attempts in our country from the twentieth century to the present with the audience. Suppressing July 15 with a Civil Response and Resistance Has a Significant Importance Assoc. Dr. Tuncay Ercan Sepetçioğlu said, “Concepts such as democracy, the rule of law, and the sovereignty of the people are laborious elements that settle in society and the political system over time. The coup attempt on July 15, 2016 left a mark as an unsuccessful coup attempt that will not be erased from memory after the resistance of the heroic Turkish People, the heroic soldiers fighting with the coups in the army, and the heroic security forces. The suppression of this coup attempt with a civil reaction and resistance is of great importance.” Western Media Failed To Show Turkish People Are Trying To Protect Turkish Democracy Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Bilgenoğlu from Aydın Faculty of Economics stated that Western broadcasting organizations argued that the purpose of the people who went to the streets on the night of July 15 was to support only Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Bilgenoğlu said, “Western broadcasting organizations posted annoying photos, many of which were not real, accusing Turkish citizens of torturing captured soldiers. All these statements show that the western media failed to show that the Turkish people tried to protect Turkish democracy on July 15 and that the citizens died in this cause.” Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Bilgenoğlu, stating that the western media lost the moral ground of teaching democracy and human rights to countries like Turkey in the post-coup process, shared the news in the Western broadcasting organizations during the July 15 coup attempt with the participants. The program ended when Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydın gave a certificate of thanks to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tuncay Ercan Sepetçioğlu and Prof. Dr. Cumali Öksüz to Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Bilgenoğlu.
