International Students Learned Their Rights and Obligations

The Governor of Aydın, Yavuz Selim Köşger, Assistant General Manager of Migration Management, Dr. Gökçe Ok, Department Head of Adaptation and Communication of General Directorate of Migration Management, Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu, Project Assistant, Zana Erdoğan,  Director of Migration Management, Soner Koç, Consultant of the International Students Club of our university, Assistant Professor Dr.Serhat Yetimova, Student Club President Anas Altheeb and club members participated in the workshop.

Speaking at the event, Governor of Aydın, Yavuz Selim Köşger, said that Turks are a nation that is fond of sovereignty and that we are a country in which the people from the Balkans to the Middle East and from the Caucasus to Central Asia are tied with hope. He stressed that the people of these regions consider Turkey as their second home and that it is a cradle of civilizations which embraces people facing difficulties.

Hüseyin Turgut, the Rector's Advisor, mentioned the evaluations of Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir regarding international students and said that the Rector considers the international students studying at our university as cultural transporters. He also expressed that Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir considers the international students as a source of wealth and that the international students' intercultural communication, when considered in terms of Turkey's image abroad, helps to spread te message all over the world.

Continuing his speech, Hüseyin Turgut stated that the communication between countries in the world is progressing very much and our country, which is a locomotive power in its region, is in a period of interaction with many countries in terms of geopolitical, geostrategic, geoeconomic and geocultural position. He also said that “International Students are very important for the communication between Turkey and other countries to be more healthy and to promote our country correctly. Indeed, our international students are our ‘Volunteer Cultural Ambassadors’. It is not only our responsibility to teach international students languages,and to provide academic education, but also one of our primary responsibilities is to promote our culture.”

Inst. Selin Çelikbaş, from the International Office of our University, gave information about the acceptance of international students to the university, examination conditions, tuition fees, international students' residence permission applications, the number of international students in our university, departments teaching in English in our university, scholarships available to international students and events organized by international students.

After the closing speech by the Provincial Director of Migration Management, Soner Koç, a trip to Güvercinada was organized for members of the International Student Club.
