The “Research Training of Patent Awareness” meeting organized by Technology Development Company (ADU Technocity), as part of the “Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Literacy and Research Training” was held on February 14, 2019 in the Miletos Hall of the Atatürk Congress Center at Aydın Adnan Menderes University.
Rector, Prof. Dr. Selçuk Aldemir, Manager of Technocity Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem, Erdem Kaya, Patent and Brand Specialist Nur Yağcı Alan, academic staff and a large number of students attended the event.
Manager of Technocity Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem who made the opening speech of the event stated that the age we are in is the information age and emphasized that ADU Technocity aims at reducing production costs with artificial intelligence, robotic coding and automation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem said “Companies need to develop different strategies in order to reduce production costs and gain competitive advantage. The foundations of these strategies are studies on brand, patent, intellectual and industrial property rights.”
Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir referred to the importance of Technocities in his speech and stated that the university aims to make ADU Technocity into a synergy center in which academicians and researchers can help them to realize the aims and cooperate with big companies. Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir continued his speech with the words “Branding, patent ownership and their transformation to economic potential take a very important place in today’s world where information storage is of great importance on the world political, military and economic platforms. The commercialization of the proposal ideas and the use of this knowledge for economics are of strategic importance. In this respect, I strongly support the organization of patent, brand and awareness research training by ADU Technocity in order for AR-GE studies to be carried out in a rapid and target-specific manner which allow patent and patent outcomes to be used in studies at our university.”
After the Rector’s speech, Erdem Kaya and Patent Specialist Nur Yağcı Alan gave a presentation on the issues of brand, patent, intellectual and industrial property rights and copyrights.
