The White Coat Ceremony for third-year students of our University’s Faculty of Dentistry was held on February 13, 2025, at the Yoruk Ali Efe Hall of Ataturk Congress Center.
The ceremony was attended by our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Bulent Kent; Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Iyem; Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sultan Keles; President of Aydin Chamber of Dentists, Dentist Serpil Cakir Kocaevli; members of the Chamber’s Executive Board, academicians, students, and their families.
Following the moment of silence and the National Anthem, the event continued with a piano recital by third-year student Ufuk Erdem Eroglu, a folk dance performance by ADU Folk Dance Group, and a solo Zeybek dance performance by Orcun Kaya from the Competition Team.
In the opening speech, third-year student representative Eylul Kamile Burcak emphasized that by wearing their white coats, students were taking their first steps into their professional careers and were now dentists in training. President of the Chamber of Dentists, Dentist Serpil Cakir Kocaevli, highlighted that the white coat symbolizes the honor of the medical profession and wished the students success in their careers.
Expressing her pride in the students, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sultan Keles stated that the white coat they wear in front of their families is a symbol of responsibility and thanked the faculty members and administrative staff for organizing the ceremony.
Our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Bulent Kent, emphasized the steps taken to ensure students receive the most comprehensive education and become competent and confident professionals. He stated:
"In this regard, we have opened a 25-unit Integrated Clinic in the current academic term. Additionally, we have provided extra units to different departments of our faculty to allow for more clinical practice. As a result, the average number of units per student has nearly doubled. Furthermore, we continue our efforts to strengthen our academic staff and improve physical conditions to provide you with a high-quality education. I want you to know that our support in this regard will continue. We wholeheartedly believe that you, our esteemed students, will serve the health of our nation not only with your professional knowledge and expertise but also with your ethical and moral values."
Following this, Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Kent, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Iyem, and President of Aydin Chamber of Dentists, Serpil Cakir Kocaevli, personally dressed the top-ranking students in their white coats.
The ceremony concluded with faculty members dressing all students in their white coats, extending their best wishes for success in their education and professional careers, followed by a group photo session.
