Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akyol, President of Dentists Chamber Günhan Eskicioğlu, academicians, students and their families participated in the ceremony.
During the ceremony that started with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the first of the Faculty of Dentistry, Ayça Mergen said “We, as the first students of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Dentistry, have witnessed that our faculty has been shaped and developed with us. We did not even have a seat when it was a newly established faculty. Then there was a class that only we could go in, identified with us. Our laboratories and clinical arrangements were first created with us. Now, when we look back, to see where we have come from is the evidence of how much our faculty has developed.”.
She also said “Bright tomorrows occur with bright hearts. In this country which has been given to us as a gift, we will be free individuals with conscience and enlightened individuals with the title of medicine.” and ended her speech by thanking her family and teachers for their efforts.
President of Chamber of Dentists Günhan Eskicioğlu stated that graduation is a very special moment that will never be forgotten and said “Dear graduates, you have a very valuable profession. Make the best of your job. Know how to make use of the serious education you have received through the efforts of your teachers.”, and advised young graduates to do their jobs with pleasure.
Struggle to be part of the solution, the leader of change
Head of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Musa Şamil Akyıl made his speech by giving advice to the graduates with his words: “Practice your profession honestly. Success in the real sense is to live life in integrity and to be honest in your profession. Know the value of your profession. Never forget the importance of love and interpersonal communication, empathy, moral, conscientiousness and compassion. Struggle to be part of the solution, not the part of the problem, but the leader of the change. Knowledge is the greatest power, never stop improving yourself and constantly learning new things. I sincerely believe that you will be individuals who stand by and adhere to the ethical principles of your profession.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Selcuk Aldemir, shared memories from his own life and stated that taking important people as models and working in this direction is one of the tips of a successful life. Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of honesty, morality, honesty and loyalty and wished young people a lifetime of success.
After the speeches, the video prepared by the students was watched and the newly graduates read Hippocratic Oath accompanied by Prof. Dr. Musa Şamil Akyıl.
After the awards were given to the students of the Faculty of Dentistry ranking the highest and graduation certificates were given to the graduating students, the students threw their caps.
