Faculty Members in the Department of Archeology Start Three New Researches About Ancient Cities
With the support of the Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Osman Selçuk Aldemir and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Dr. Kubilay Metin, permission was taken from T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums to start work in 2020 for three new projects related to ancient cities in our city, prepared by the faculty members in the department of Archeology.
Archaeological surface researches will be started as of 2020 in Alinda Ancient City and its surroundings in Karpuzlu district of Aydın province under the presidency of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Çekilmez, a faculty member in the Department of Archeology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Excavations are planned to begin after three years of research.
The research, which will be conducted under the presidency of Asst. Prof. Dr. Aydın Erön, will be carried out in Kuşadası district of Aydın province and its surroundings. Archaeological surface researches are planned to take three years. Researches to be carried out around Samsun (Mykale) Mountain constitute the focal point of 2020 studies.
Under the presidency of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sedat Akkunaz, researches will be conducted in Nazilli and Yenipazar districts. The researches, which are planned to take three years, will be carried out in Orthosia Ancient City in Yenipazar and Mastaura Ancient City in Nazilli.
