Prof. Dr. Selçuk Hazır from the department of Biology at the Faculty of Science and Letters became one of the five editors selected for the special issue of ‘Frontiers in Microbiology’, one of the world's most respected microbiology journals, titled ‘New Antimicrobial Peptides From Bacteria/Invertebrate Obligate Symbiotic Associations’.
Other academicians selected by the journal are Dr. Eustachio Tarasco from the University of Bari in Italy, Dr. Adler Dillman from California University, Dr. David Clarke from College Cork University in Ireland, and Dr. Andras Fodor from Pannonia University in Hungary.
Prof. Dr. Hazır pointed out that the fact that the name of our university is included in such an important journal will contribute to the image of our university and that taking part in such organizations increases both individual and institutional recognition and paves the way for scientific progress.
Prof. Dr. Hazır served as vice president of the Nematology Group of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology between 2011 and 2013 and as the world president between 2013-2015. In addition, our faculty member is the first Turkish scientist appointed to this position. Prof. Dr. Hazir has 75 international articles and over 1500 citations, all published in SCI journals.
