Environmental Literacy Training Provided by the Department of Environmental Health

Graduate students from the Department of Environmental Health at the Institute of Health Sciences, under the leadership of Department Chair Prof. Dr. Emine Didem Evci Kiraz and Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Metin Dam, conducted Environmental Literacy Training sessions in various kindergarten, primary, middle, and high schools in rural areas of Aydın in collaboration with the Efeler District Directorate of National Education.

Aiming to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability across all segments of society, the Department of Environmental Health organized educational activities at Ilıcabaşı Middle School (November 26, 2024), Umurlu Multi-Program Anatolian High School (December 11, 2024), Kocagür Primary and Middle School (December 18, 2024), Baltaköy Hacı İbrahim Akdemir Primary School (January 15, 2025), and Asımın Nesli Anatolian Imam Hatip Middle School (January 8, 2025). These events covered critical topics such as environmental health, sustainability, and disaster management, engaging both students and teachers in interactive sessions.

Doctoral student Emin Aydın and master’s students Çağlar Sağlam, Tuğçe Eryalçın, Ayça Eroğlu, and Kadriye Devran, along with faculty members, emphasized their goal of fostering environmental awareness among children and young individuals to cultivate a more environmentally conscious future. They also expressed their commitment to continuing these training sessions.

 

Through these initiatives aimed at raising public awareness of environmental sustainability and environmental literacy, the project aspires to contribute to the development of a greener and more sustainable future.
