Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation, who had come to the city as part of various programmes held in Aydın, began his visits at the Rectorate of Aydın Adnan Menderes University.
Erdoğan, who visited our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, at his office, received comprehensive information regarding the university’s academic structure, ongoing scientific research and current projects. During the remainder of the visit, Erdoğan toured the ‘Late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes Photography Exhibition’ organised by the university, examining the works on display.
Commenting on the exhibition, which sheds light on Turkey’s recent political history, Erdoğan stated that cultural initiatives play a significant role in fostering awareness among younger generations. During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation in the field of education were discussed, and assessments were made regarding projects aimed at contributing to the academic and personal development of young people. During the discussions held with the Education Support Platform (EDEP), topics such as equality of opportunity in education, the cultivation of qualified human resources, and the role of civil society in this process were comprehensively addressed.
Speaking at the meeting, Erdoğan emphasised that education is not limited to academic achievement alone, but must be approached with a holistic understanding that encompasses values education and social development. Highlighting the critical role played by civil society organisations in raising young people to become well-equipped individuals, Erdoğan stated that the widespread establishment of such platforms is of great importance for Turkey’s future.
During the meetings held as part of the visit, the importance of strengthening cooperation between public institutions, universities and civil society organisations was emphasised; it was also noted that working together on projects specifically targeting young people would yield more effective results.
