Department of Pediatric Surgery at ADU Faculty of Medicine Earns Accreditation Certificate

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) has been granted the Institutional Accreditation Certificate.

As part of an on-site evaluation visit held on May 6, 2025, with the participation of members of the Board of Pediatric Surgery Specialization Proficiency of Türkiye and Prof. Dr. Ayşin Zeytinoğlu, the representative of the Turkish Medical Association–Coordination Board of Specialty Societies (TTB-UDEK), the quality of specialization training, physical conditions, and the available clinical, surgical, and laboratory facilities were thoroughly reviewed. Following the comprehensive evaluation, the department was deemed to have met the national post-graduate medical education standards, thereby qualifying for official accreditation.

Rector of ADU, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, emphasized the significance of quality standards in education for institutional development and stated:

“This remarkable achievement is a concrete reflection of our university’s commitment to medical education and the dedicated efforts of our academic units. I sincerely congratulate Prof. Dr. Sezen Özkısacık, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, as well as Prof. Dr. Mesut Yazıcı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Onur Erdem, Asst. Prof. Dr. Gizem Beril Özdemir, and all the assistant physicians and staff of the department. This accreditation, which certifies the department’s compliance with national standards for specialization training, not only ensures that our students receive high-quality education, but also contributes to the enhancement of healthcare services. As a university, we are firmly committed to continuously advancing the quality of education at our Faculty of Medicine, and I wholeheartedly believe that such accomplishments will continue to grow.”

The Accreditation Certificate will be formally presented to the department during a ceremony to be held as part of the 42nd National Pediatric Surgery Congress.
