Another Important Step in University-Industry Cooperation

The Protocol Ceremony of the Vocational Education Model (3+1) for Köşk Vocational School of our University was held on July 5, 2024 at the Senate Hall of the Rectorate Building.

Köşk Mayor Nuri Güler, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal İyem, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Bertan Akyol, KOSGEB Aydın Director Sadullah Dülger, Aydın Chamber of Industry Chairman Gökhan Maraş, Aydın Commodity Exchange Assembly Chairman Ahmet Bahri Erdel, Nazilli Chamber of Commerce Chairman Nuri Arslan, Köşk Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Mehmet Yılmaz, company representatives and guests attended the protocol ceremony.

Within the scope of the vocational education model, which aims to reduce unemployment, increase employment, transfer technology and academic knowledge to workplaces and accelerate technological development, a cooperation protocol was signed with 21 institutions and companies.

The Vocational Education System in Business started to be implemented for the first time in Köşk Vocational School after it was accepted and enacted by the Senate of our University in order to increase the employment rates of our students.  Within the scope of the 3+1 model, students will spend their last semester in an enterprise by receiving practical training. Students will integrate the theoretical knowledge they have gained during their education with the “Vocational Training in Business” course under the guidance of an expert in the workplace, develop the skills necessary for qualified employment, increase their teamwork, work discipline and responsibility skills, and have the opportunity to meet the business world.

Köşk Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Mehmet Yılmaz, who stated that the Vocational Education Practice in Business is defined as a useful model encouraged by the Council of Higher Education and enables Vocational School students to gain sector experience before graduation, said, “The first unit to implement this model in our university was Köşk Vocational School, which is located in the most convenient location to the Organized Industrial Zone. The fact that many businesses specific to our programs at Köşk Vocational School are very close to the school campus was also considered as another advantage. The academic staff of the Vocational School worked in harmony and integrated into the system in a very short time, and a radical change was made in the curriculum.”

Emphasizing that this new system, which will allow our students to work in the sector for a semester during their education, will allow them to transform their theoretical knowledge into practice, Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent said, “Our students will have the opportunity to get to know the requirements and working conditions of the sector closely. Thus, they will be more ready and competent individuals in the business life after graduation. The successful functioning of this system will be possible with the support of valuable business partners like you. This protocol with our university will make great contributions not only to our students but also to our companies. Our students will add value to business processes with their dynamic and innovative perspectives.”

Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, Rector of our University, stated that as a university, we are working with great devotion to provide the highest quality education to our students and to prepare them for business life in the best way, and addressing the stakeholders to be cooperated within the scope of the protocol, said, “However, the real success of these efforts is only possible with the support of our valuable stakeholders like you. Therefore, we hope that our cooperation will be long-term and sustainable. Finally, I would like to thank you for walking with us in this important step and supporting our students. I firmly believe that together, we will build a stronger future.”
