With the honorary presence of Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD, a grand opening ceremony was held on August 22, 2025, for a total of 23 facilities, including investments made in our university.
In his speech, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD emphasized the importance of investments in young people and stated that Aydın is rapidly progressing towards becoming a sports city, saying, “The facilities we are opening today will provide our young people with the best opportunities in education and sports. I wish all the best for Aydın.”
Noting that all organizations are working in the field under the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he said that the efforts carried out under the motto “Together for a Strong Türkiye” are continuing intensively. Emphasizing that they are working tirelessly to serve the nation, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD said that with the investments made in Aydın, the city is rapidly advancing towards becoming a sports city.
Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD stated that the education, scholarship, and accommodation opportunities for young people are improving day by day, noting that students are provided with five-star hotel comfort in dormitories. Stating that approximately 200,000 young people were hosted in youth camps during the summer, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD said that Türkiye has made a major breakthrough in terms of sports facilities thanks to the importance given to sports by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In this context, he stated that sports facilities and swimming pools have been built in every province and district, and that 12 million young people have been taught to swim to date, adding, “The power of our state can be seen in the investments made in sports facilities.”
Among the investments made in our university are: the renovation of the natural grass field at Binali Yıldırım Stadium, the covering of tennis courts and renovation of their surfaces, a 576-person away team stand, double changing rooms, a 30x50-meter training field, and the renovation of the athletics track. In addition, infrastructure work for the indoor swimming pool and carpeted fields has been completed and opened for service.
It was stated that the projects, implemented with a total investment of 50 million TL, will support our students' sporting activities and strengthen our university's physical infrastructure.
Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent said, “These facilities added to our university will not only support our students' sporting activities, but will also contribute to our university's vision for the future by strengthening its institutional capacity. I would like to thank our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and our Minister, Osman Aşkın Bak, PhD, for their support.”
