Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADÜ) has achieved a significant success within the framework of the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. During the evaluation process coordinated by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), 18 projects submitted by our university successfully passed the academic evaluation and qualified to be featured in the COP31 YÖK Pavilion.
As part of the efforts coordinated by ADÜ’s Social Contribution and Sustainability Coordination Office and the Zero Waste Coordination Office, the projects prepared by our faculty members bring together academic knowledge and research expertise from various disciplines to address climate change and advance sustainable development goals.
The projects, spanning a wide range of areas—including climate literacy and education, sustainable agriculture and the bioeconomy, health and climate resilience, clean energy, the green transition, industry, and governance—aim to develop science-based solutions to environmental problems, ensure the efficient use of resources, and promote the widespread adoption of sustainable living practices. The acceptance of projects spanning diverse fields of study highlights ADÜ’s interdisciplinary approach to climate change, environmental sustainability, and social contribution.
The 18 projects to be featured at the YÖK Pavilion during COP31 will contribute to showcasing Aydın Adnan Menderes University’s scientific expertise, research capacity, and innovative solutions on national and international platforms. The projects are also expected to lay the groundwork for developing new scientific collaborations in the areas of combating climate change, sustainable development, and environmental awareness.
The COP31 process, which will raise the profile of the university’s sustainability efforts on an international level, is also significant in terms of transforming scientific research into societal benefits and bringing the innovative applications developed to a wider audience.
Aydın Adnan Menderes University, with its 18 projects, is set to participate in the COP31 YÖK Pavilion, bringing its scientific work focused on combating climate change, a sustainable future, and social benefit to the international stage. Our university continues to strengthen its research and applications in the field of sustainability and to pursue its efforts in this direction.
