ADU Ranks Third Among Universities Winning the Most Medals

Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) ranked third among the top 10 universities winning the most medals, with a total of 58 medals during the 2024–2025 season, at the “International University Sports Day – TUSF Award and Promotion Night” organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF).

The event was held on October 16, 2025, at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University İtri Congress and Culture Center. The ceremony aimed to honor universities that achieved national and international success in university sports. Universities that won medals in international competitions, showed high participation in national tournaments, and contributed to the promotion of sports culture during the 2024–2025 season were awarded.

ADU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Prof. Dr. Savaş Duman, National Team Head Coach and ADU faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Güreş, and national athlete and student of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Özlem Becerek attended the ceremony.

During the 2024–2025 season, ADU achieved outstanding success, winning 28 gold, 16 silver, and 14 bronze medals, ranking third nationwide. ADU athletes brought great pride to the university, particularly with their achievements at the FISU 2025 World University Summer Games held in Germany, representing both the university and Türkiye with distinction across various disciplines.

ADU student Özlem Becerek won the gold medal in the discus throw event with a distance of 61.15 meters among athletes from 46 countries, marking Türkiye’s first-ever gold medal in this discipline in the history of the World University Summer Games.

In the men’s 800-meter race, Mehmet Çelik secured third place among 64 competitors, earning a bronze medal, and also placed fourth globally in the 1500-meter category.

Meanwhile, Kubilay Encü, who competed in the 4×400-meter relay, won another bronze medal, finishing third among 43 countries.

 With these achievements, Aydın Adnan Menderes University continues to make its mark in both national and international sports organizations, significantly contributing to the advancement of university sports in Türkiye.
