Speaking at the event, which began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, emphasized the significance of holding the first lecture of the academic year under the theme “A Türkiye Free of Terrorism,” noting that peace, security, unity, and solidarity are the fundamental elements of a strong Türkiye. Stating that universities are not merely institutions that provide knowledge and vocational training, our Rector said that universities are institutions that guide science and technology and contribute to the future of society. He called on students to develop themselves under the guidance of science and reason, to act with a sense of social responsibility, and to contribute to the country’s future.
Delivering the first lecture of the academic year, Coşkun Başbuğ offered insights on Türkiye’s fight against terrorism, security policies, and the goal of a “Türkiye Free of Terrorism.”
