Our Faculty of Education has pioneered the use of innovative technologies in teacher training by implementing virtual reality (VR)-supported instruction in the courses Map Knowledge and Applications and Media Literacy. Within the scope of the e-BİDALAB Project, VR headsets were integrated into courses, creating interactive, three-dimensional, and experiential learning environments throughout the semester.
Students engaged in a comprehensive learning process that enabled them to experience spatial concepts in 3D, participate in interactive map applications, and analyze media content through realistic simulations.
Unlike previous VR initiatives in teacher education in Türkiye, which were mostly short-term trials, this implementation presents a long-term, holistic, and systematic model. Throughout the semester, students’ adaptation processes, changes in learning experiences, and the pedagogical impact of VR usage are closely monitored. The findings are expected to scientifically demonstrate the contributions of VR technologies to teacher education and further strengthen our university’s leading position in innovative teaching technologies.
